After signing with Warner Bros. chase atlantic merch, Chase Atlantic spent much of 2017 touring. In early 2017, they announced their first headlining tour of the United States, opening for Sleeping with Sirens on their Gossip Up Close & Personal Tour. This tour was considered the band's beginning as a touring act. In October 2017, they released their self-titled debut album, Chase Atlantic. This fall, they also played their first headline tour in the United States and opened for Blackbear in Australia.
While the band's early sound is relatively experimental, the songs reflect their distinctive sounds. Phases opens with a sampled thrum before Mitchel's voice enters over a fun and engaging beat. Despite the song's title, the chorus is a tender one, albeit marred by frustrations of romantic encounters. It's impossible to call it a love song, but there's more to the story than meets the eye.
